Transatlantic 7-night cruise on Cunard Queen Mary II

We embarked on September 26, 2026, from Southampton, England on the way to New York City, USA to disembark on October 3, 2026. We booked a cabin A2 category Club Balcony. Which included dinner at the restaurant Britania Club which is a private room off of the main dining room. The menu is a little upgrade from the main dining room menu. The dress code on Cunard is more dressed up then on other cruise lines and stricter on following it. One night was black & white gala ball, which was a formal night. On the nights that were smart attire we never saw anyone wearing t-shirts or shorts. If you didn't want to dress up the buffet was open for all 3 meals and there was room service open 24 hours. The food was ok the desserts were always too fancy for me I'm happy with ice-cream or a sundae. When I googled the average age for transatlantic cruise with Queen Mary 2. The results were that the average age was between late 50s and early 60s. To me on this cruise seemed like the average age was between late 60s and early 70s.

There are 5 cabin types the Queen Suites, Princess Suites, Britannia Club Suite, Britannia stateroom, and single rooms. The Queen Suites have their own separate dining room same with the Princess Suites, and Britannia Club Suites. The Britannia staterooms and single rooms were in the main dining room. There is also alternative dining the Steakhouse at the Verandah, LaPlazza at the Kings Court, Golden Lion Pub, Kings court buffet, and room service.

We ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet which was okay. One day we had hamburgers at the Kings Court Chefs Galley, where they serve burgers and hotdogs at lunch and pizza and pasta at dinner. The Queens Grill, Princess Grill, Britannia Club, and Britannia restaurants are also open for breakfast and lunch.

There was plenty of activities besides relaxing and reading a book. There is a good size library onboard and easy to check out a book. There is not designated movie theater. Movies were shown in a smaller area. There is also a casino and a Royal Court Theatre where in the evening they had shows. There were musicals, Jazz, and comedy show. They had trivia, quizzes, lectures and talks by guest speakers, art classes, bingo, and bridge card lessons. They had dancing, ballroom, line dancing, Latin, and silent disco. There was a workout area with treadmills, bikes, weights, fitness classes, and wellness seminars. They had free afternoon tea in the Queens room and also afternoon tea treats at the buffet in the afternoon if you didn't want to have sit down service. There was a planetarium on board but, you will need to make reservations for the show. If you have a furry four-legged friend, they have a kennel onboard that is very popular, and you will need to book as soon as it is becomes available.

Taking the transatlantic cruise back to USA instead of the airplane was more comfortable than sitting in the airplane for hours but, at the end of 7 days without any stops I was ready to get off in New York City.
